PHARMACY MANAGER ROCKWELL
We are searching for an experienced PHARMACY MANAGER ROCKWELL at our DHG PHARMACY facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Pharmacy Manager of Rockwell is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Pharmacy Department in Freeport, GB, including technical operations as well as supervisory support to the Pharmacy staff. The Pharmacy Manager facilitates the orientation of new staff within the department, ensuring that the entire team is aware of the value and importance of exceptional customer service and patient safety.
The Manager is responsible for organizing, scheduling, and monitoring the department’s workload. The Manager will monitor the productivity of the department and adjust associate assignments to improve productivity when necessary. The Pharmacy Manager ensures that Pharmacy associates are compliant with all best practice standards and the core value of Doctors Hospital Health System. This position reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees all areas of the Pharmacy.
- Monitors the quality of Pharmacy Services in the hospital and suggests improvements as necessary.
- Assists the Director of Pharmacy Services with the development of policies and procedures.
- Assist the Director of Pharmacy Services with budgeting.
- Informs Pharmacy staff regarding areas of improvement and facilitates changes ins workflow processes.
- Ensures new associates attend general orientation.
- Orients associate departmental policies and procedures within the first eight (8) to ten (10) weeks of employment.
- Ensures that newly onboarded Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians are trained according to the Pharmacy Department’s training checklist.
- Participates in resolution of associate’s grievances.
- Assign responsibilities to associates to meet the needs and requirements of the department.
- Attends meetings and participates with authority to comment within the area of assigned responsibility.
- Keep the Director of Pharmacy informed about matters that are significant and ongoing.
- Prepares and presents various monthly reports as requested by the Director of Pharmacy (operational/clinical reports)
- Monitor drug inventory utilization and generate monthly reports as requested by Director of Pharmacy Services
- Generate monthly reports on associate performance for the Director of Pharmacy Services
- Assist Director of Pharmacy Services with recruiting and selecting associates using applicable benchmarks and trends, resulting in appropriate staffing levels (e.g., full-time and contracted).
- Identifies key employee relation issues and reports as necessary to the Director of Pharmacy.
- Assists Director of Pharmacy by providing ongoing performance feedback, coaching and development for employees across all shifts
- Addresses poor performance of associates to encourage and motivate maximum performance and excellence through counseling and other appropriate actions.
- Assists in the preparation and implementation of development plans for all reports; supports ongoing development efforts.
- Has prepared a management development plan for self and participates in developmental activities on a continuing basis.
- Deals directly and effectively with conflict among employees.
- Ensures compliance with all Human Resources policies, regulations, and laws.
- Effectively manages position and time and appropriately handles interruptions.
- Manages administrative tasks, handling reports and paperwork in a timely manner, to meet established deadlines.
Assist online, as directed by Director of Pharmacy Services:
- Ensures medications are being dispensed accurately and appropriately.
- Compounds Medications
- Reviews prescriptions issued by Physicians to assure accuracy and determines formulas and ingredients needed.
- Compounds medications using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
- Monitors all postings onto the patient profiles in order that accuracy, drug allergies, drug interactions, duplicate therapy, rational drug therapy, and incompatibilities may be realized, and better patient care received.
- Check the patient medication file prior to delivery to patient care areas to ascertain that the correct drug, dosage form, schedule, and strength are being dispensed.
- Prepares IV admixtures and extemporaneous parenteral products under aseptic conditions.
- Enters accurate data into the computer system (Pharmacy program) such as patient, prescribed medications, and cost, and maintains patient profiles and the charge system.
- Reviews and monitors drug therapy that requires dosing adjustments as authorized by the Physician.
- Provides Pharmaceutical care to all ages of patients, from newborns to the elderly.
- Understands that there are dosage variations between newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and knows where to find appropriate information.
- Reports to the Manager of Pharmacy and assists with special assignments and responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s mission, policy, and any applicable laws.
- Respects and maintains the confidentiality and privacy of all Associates, Customers, and the company’s business always.
- Participate as a team member. Answers the telephone in a timely and courteous manner in accordance with DH standards.
- Strives to always uphold the “Service Excellence” standards.
- Constantly review and update departmental procedures and policies where appropriate to ensure the highest level of customer service.
- Maintains an open line of communication with associates within the area of responsibility to provide support and assistance to these individuals in the execution of their duties.
- Responds quickly and appropriately to all requests.
Other duties
- Listens carefully and communicates in a clear, specific manner, using age-specific language for the age served.
- Consistently reports to work on time, ready to work at the start of the shift, and works steadily until the end of the shift.
- Works scheduled shifts.
- Is not absent without leave.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensure performance standards are maintained throughout the Pharmacy Department.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university (PharmD preferred)
- Minimum of five years of managerial experience in a hospital pharmacy setting or a leadership role
