PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
POSITION SUMMARY
- Interprets physician’s prescriptions and medication orders. Assures accuracy in completing requests for medication
- Assists with compounding and dispensing prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals
- Assists Pharmacists as a drug information resource to patients, medical, and nursing staff
- Monitors all posting onto the patient profiles to assure accuracy, determine drug allergies, interactions, and incompatibilities
- Checks patient medication file prior to delivery to patient care areas to ascertain that the correct drug, dosage form, schedule, and strength is being dispensed
- Prepares IV admixtures and extemporaneous parenteral products under aseptic conditions
- Enters accurate data into the Pharmacy software program

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION
- 2-3 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- 3 BGCSE’s (Including English & a Science course)
- Pharmacy Technician certification from an accredited institution
- Licensed with the Bahamas Health Professions Council
- Work experience in a hospital setting is a plus
