EMERGENCY ROOM (ER) REGISTERED NURSE
Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients in our Emergency Department and Outpatient facilities. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient and effective patient management. Your clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, and ability to remain calm under pressure will be crucial in providing high-quality care to patients in emergency situations. This position requires excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Essential duties:
- Provides comprehensive patient care in an Emergency Room/Trauma setting
- Triage
- Collaborates on the overall care plan for the patient as evidenced by written documentation; collects and documents data appropriate to the nature and severity of the illness
- Interprets and implements physicians’ orders: performs treatments according to accepted standards
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias, and ability to monitor hemo-dynamic status of the patient
- Initiates and assists with emergency procedures and initiates resuscitative measures according to advanced life support protocols
- Demonstrates knowledge and use of telemetry cardiac monitors, IV infusion pump, glucometer etc.
- Ensures that the crash cart is checked daily
- Assesses effectiveness of medications given to patients each shift
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited University or equivalent
- Certified Emergency Nurse Certification preferred
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Intravenous access training course
- Completion of mandatory competencies
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting
- 2 years plus experience in an emergency room setting preferred
Licensure:
- Current registration with Bahamas Nursing Council
