RESPIRATORY THERAPIST
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing Respiratory service on an In-patient and outpatient basis. Evaluate, treat, and care for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Practicing under the direction of a physician, respiratory therapists assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians.
Assess all new patients, assigns and prepares a treatment plan based on prescription of referring Physician and specific individual needs. Reassess patient periodically, modifying treatment plan accordingly. Prepares progress and discharge reports. Liaisons with referring Physicians and attends ward rounds and patient/family meetings where appropriate. Conducts patient/family education sessions. Documents all relevant information. Ensures that statistics in area of work is completed daily and monthly. Performs any other duties as assigned by the coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in respiratory
- Certification in Respiratory Therapy
- Graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy
- Minimum of two years clinical experience required
- Licensed with the Health Professions Council
- BLS
- ACLS
- Computer literate
